O'FALLON, Ill. - McKendree University men's tennis fell to No.27-ranked Drury University this past weekend, marking only its second loss of the 2023 season with a score of 1-6 in favor of the Panthers. The Bearcats move to 5-2 overall for the year.  

One McKendree duo was victorious in doubles play as seniors Nanase Ebisu and Lorenzo del Biondo posted a score of 6-4 in the No.3 match over Drury's Tjade Bruns and Alejandro Equivel.  

In singles, del Biondo proved the lone victor for McKendree, taking the first set 7-6. In the second set, del Biondo held a 3-1 advantage and won via retirement over Drury's Oscar Reis.  

No.44-ranked senior Leonardo Schmitz Frederico fell in the No.1 match to No.12-ranked Sylvain Garin Michaud of Drury. Schmitz Frederico took the first set 6-4, but Garin Michaud won the second and third sets 2-6 and 3-6 to seal the win.  

Freshman Tomas Leston, who is ranked No.28 in singles, faced No.45-ranked Yaroslav Sharyy in the No.2 singles match, falling by scores of 4-6, 4-6.  

Coming up, the Bearcats hit the road for a three-match outing starting with William Jewell on March 24 followed by Rockhurst on March 25 and Missouri Valley College on March 26.
