INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - McKendree University women's basketball claimed three individual Great Lakes Valley Conference awards for the 2022-23 season. The Bearcats finished the year with an overall 12-16 record.
Junior forward Naomi McDaniel was named to the All-GLVC Second Team as she maintained the highest scoring, rebounding, and blocks averages for the Bearcats. McDaniel recorded 13.8 points per game, 6.9 rebounds per game, and 1.2 blocks per game on the season. In GLVC statistics, McDaniel was 16th in scoring and tied for ninth in rebounding while also ranking third in field goal percentage (56.8 percent) and second in blocked shots. McDaniel surpassed 1,000 career points in McKendree's fifth game of the season.
Sophomore guard Clare Breden was voted to the All-GLVC Third Team. Breden averaged the second-highest number of points for the Bearcats (10.4 points per game) while leading in steals (1.5 steals per game) and assists (2.4 assists per game). Her steals average ranked 15th in the GLVC in addition to ranking seventh in steals. Breden recorded a season-high 29 points late in the season against UMSL.
Freshman guard Georgia Duncan was McKendree's recipient of the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship award. The 13 student-athletes named to the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Team earned the honor because they have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior during the 2022-23 season.
