LEBANON, Ill. – The Bearcats hosted the Rockhurst University Hawks on Sunday, April 25th at Leemon Field for their final game of the 2023 slate. The Hawks won by the score of 18-5.
Just three minutes into the contest Jayna Barnden gave the Bearcats the 1-0 lead on an assist from Jenna Sugarman. At the 9:49 mark, Kat Albrecht made it 2-0 McKendree. Rockhurst tied the game at 2, but Albrecht would score her 2nd of the contest with three minutes left in the opening stanza.
Over the 2nd and 3rd quarters, Rockhurst scored 13 unanswered goals to make it 15-3. Early in the 4th quarter, Sugarman and Albrecht got the Bearcats back to within 10 goals, before Rockhurst finished the contest with 3 more goals.
With her save in the final minute of the 3rd quarter, Clara Andrews became new all-time leader in saves with 525.
Before the game, the Bearcats honored their 3 seniors for their time and commitment to the program. Those 3 were Kat Albrecht, Clara Andrews and Molly Muennich.
