TIFFIN, Ohio – The 2023 McKendree University football season kicked off against the Tiffin University Dragons out of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Tiffin came away with the win by the score of 79-14.
The Bearcats won the coin toss and chose to receive the opening kick. In just seven plays to go 66 yards, Caleb Fisher found Yogi Flager, Jr. from 9 yards out to go up 7-0. Tiffin answered right back as they went 70 yards in just five plays, but missed the point after attempt. McKendree's second drive of the opening quarter ended in the same Fisher to Flager, Jr connection to give the Bearcats the 14-6 lead with five and a half minutes left in the quarter.
Unfortunately for the Bearcats, Tiffin would score 31 unanswered points through the rest of the first half.
As the second half began, the Tiffin Dragons continued their offensive production as they outscored McKendree 42-0 in the 2nd half.
McKendree will return home next week when they host the University of West Florida Argonauts with the kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
