LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's basketball will seek its eighth conference win of the 2023-24 season this Saturday in a 1 p.m. game against the University of Missouri-St. Louis. McKendree sports an 11-3 overall record and a 7-1 record in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
The Bearcats are No.2 in GLVC standings heading into the weekend. As a team, McKendree is third in the conference in field goal percentage, netting 45 percent of their field goal attempts. Junior guard Clare Breden still holds a top six spot in scoring, averaging 17.1 points per game while senior forward Naomi McDaniel has climbed to second place in field goal percentage, sinking 56.3 percent of shots.
In the last match up between McKendree and Missouri-St. Louis, the Bearcats came away with an 86-79 victory.
The Tritons hold a 7-7 overall record and a 5-3 record in the GLVC to rank sixth. As a team, UMSL ranks first in the conference to holding opponents to the lowest number of points allowed with an average of 61.4 points per game. UMSL is just two places behind McKendree in field goal percentage at 42.5 percent. Guard Jalysa Stokes leads the conference in scoring with an average of 19.1 points per game.
