LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's basketball will travel to Truman State University and Upper Iowa University this week for a pair of GLVC contests. The Bearcats face Truman State on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 5:30 p.m. and Upper Iowa on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 1 p.m.  

McKendree sits at 14-5 overall and 10-3 in the conference heading into the weekend. As a team, McKendree ranks second in the GLVC for field goal percentage (44.6 percent), third in three-point percentage (34.0 percent) and fourth in blocked shots (3.58 per game). Leading the Bearcats and the conference in blocked shots is senior forward Naomi McDaniel who averages 1.6 blocks per game. McDaniel is also fourth in field goal percentage, netting 55.0 percent of tries from the field. Junior guard Clare Breden is second in GLVC scoring average at 17.8 points per game. Breden recently reached 1,000 career points after putting up 25 points against Missouri S&T on Saturday.  

Truman State is 14th in the conference with a 5-13 overall record and a 2-10 record against GLVC opponents. The Bulldogs and Bearcats met once earlier this season as McKendree came away with a 76-71 win. Truman State is second in the GLVC in both free throw percentage (75.6 percent) and assists (15.67 per game). Graduate student forward Ellie Weltha ranks second in rebounding, averaging 9.0 per game and third in field goal percentage at 56.8 percent.  

Upper Iowa sports an 8-8 overall record and a 5-7 GLVC record as they will also face McKendree for the second time this season. The Peacocks slipped away with an 84-85 victory over the Bearcats in early January. Upper Iowa is second in three-point percentage (36.7 percent) and third in field goal percentage (43.8 percent) for the GLVC. Graduate student forward Katie Tornstrom tops the three-point shooting for Upper Iowa and is second in percentage for the conference, netting 41.2 percent of three-point tries. She is also fifth in scoring average, sinking 17.1 points per game.
