LEBANON, Ill. – The final game of three in a row at home saw the Bearcats hosting No. 19-ranked University of Indianapolis on Saturday, October 19th. Despite a career day at quarterback for Ty Michael and a program record falling, the Bearcats fell to the Greyhounds by the score of 42-34.
After the Bearcat defense forced a turnover on downs, they proceeded to go 69-yards in five plays. The drive was fueled by a Michael pass to Kendall Abdur-Rahman for forty yards. Just three plays later, Michael found Yogi Flager Jr in the end zone for the games' opening score and the new program leader in career receiving touchdowns.
Early in the second quarter, Indy tied the game on a 9-yard touchdown run on a drive that went 73 yards in eight plays. The Greyhounds took advantage of special teams with Brandon Smith blocking the Kaleb Barry 22-yard field goal attempt as Key Crowell returned the block for a Greyhound touchdown to give UIndy the 14-7 lead. With McKendree getting the ball back, Eddie Clark capped off the 10-play, 78 yard drive with three minutes left in the half to make it a 14-13 game. The Greyhounds added a score with twelve seconds left in the half to make it a 21-13 game.
The Greyhounds extended their lead to 35-13 with two touchdowns in the third quarter.
McKendree's attempted comeback was started by a Clark 2-yard touchdown run after an Andrew Sherry interception set them up in good field position. The Greyhounds chewed up clock on the ensuing drive that was ended with a Jon Lewis touchdown run to make it 42-20. The Bearcats made it a two-score game once again with Michael finding Flager Jr. for the second game in the contest. After the Bearcat defense forced an Indianapolis punt, the offense went 88 yards in 11-plays that expanded 90 seconds and ended with Michael to Flager Jr., once more to make it the 42-34 final.
