O'FALLON, Ill. | McKendree Metro Rec Plex - McKendree University women's hockey (9-2-0, 3-1-0 WMCH) collected a third-straight victory on Friday afternoon with a 3-1 result over Michigan-Dearborn on the Bearcats' home ice. The Bearcats put up the first goal and then solidified the contest in the third period with two goals late. McKendree remains at home next weekend with two games against Jamestown on October 25 and 26 and then hosting Arizona State on October 27.
After a null scoring first period, the Bearcats struck in the latter half of period two. Senior forward
Kiley Hasenfratz fired her sixth goal of the campaign to take a 1-0 lead into the second intermission. Sophomore forward
Julia Koski dished out the helper to Hasenfratz for the lead.
In the third period, Dearborn tied the game at 1-1 in the 16th minute. The tightly contest game was pushed in favor of McKendree in the 18th minute behind a score by Koski with assists going to sophomore forward
Brooklynne Painter and sophomore defense
Charlotte Cloutier. In the 20th minute, freshman forward
Kendra Shumaker fired an empty net score to solidify the 3-1 victory.
Junior goaltender
Rachel Staresinic grabbed 23 saves in goal for the Bearcats, collecting the win.
