ROLLA, Mo. – The Bearcats hit the road on Saturday, November 2nd and headed down I-44 to Rolla as they battled the Missouri S&T Miners. Behind 223 rushing yards from Eddie Clark, McKendree rolled for almost 600 yards of offense in the come from behind 27-20 win. The victory moves them to 5-4 overall and 4-2 in GLVC play.
The first half was slow by both teams, but the Miners took a 13-0 lead going into the half. The second half was a whole different ballgame as the Bearcat offense went to work.
McKendree got on the board late in the third quarter as Ty Michael found Kendall Abdur-Rahman which capped a 13 play, 89-yard drive in under six minutes. The next Bearcat drive saw Michael hitting Jaylen Ford on a 60-yard screen pass for the touchdown and the tie game at 13. After the Bearcats forced a 3-and-out from the Miners, the ensuing drive started at the McKendree 45 yard line. It took the Bearcats four plays to go those 55 yards ending with a Michael seven touchdown run up the middle to give the Bearcats 20 unanswered points and the lead.
The Miners got the ball back and answered the McKendree scores to tie the game at 20 with a seven play, 78-yard drive in three and a half minutes. The Bearcats got the ball back with 4:30 left on the clock and had 81 yards between them and the end zone. On the fourth play of the drive, Eddie Clark found a seam to go 72 yards for the game winning touchdown.
The Bearcats will return home next week for Senior Day as they host the Upper Iowa University Peacocks with kick off scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
