LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's hockey (14-10-2, 5-8-2 WMCH) split its late-week pair of games with cross-metro rival Maryville, capturing the win at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex on Friday, 2-1, but dropping the road battle on Thursday, 3-1. The Bearcats used two third period scores to propel themselves to victory on Friday, eclipsing the 10-win mark on their home ice this season (11-5-1). McKendree closes out the regular season on Saturday, February 17 with a Senior Night matchup with local-foe Lindenwood.
Game 1 | Thursday, February 8 @ Maryville (Box)
McKendree looked to battle through a tough road contest to open the weekly slate, traveling over to the Maryville Hockey Center in Chesterfield. The Saints jumped ahead early over the Bearcats, scoring twice in the first period, holding a 2-0 lead through the end of the second 20 minutes of action. Maryville tallied a third goal early in the third period via power play, making the Bearcats go down, 3-0.

Kiley Hasenfratz finding the back of the net. Hasenfratz's goal was her 10th of the year with freshman forward
Julia Koski dishing out the assist.
The Bearcats fired 26 shots on goal in the game while sophomore goaltender
Rachel Staresinic grabbed 33 saves in the contest.

Game 2 | Friday, February 9 vs. Maryville (Box)
McKendree looked to close out the week with a victory, hosting the Saints at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex on Friday evening. The first period saw zero scoring and just 12 combined shots between the squads. The Saints struck first in the second period during a power play opportunity, holdign a 1-0 advantage after the end of the period.
In the third period, McKendree tied the game up at 1-1 five minutes in as junior forward
Brittney Kambeitz scored her third of the season with assists going to junior forward
Larisa Gorgevska-Sharpe and sophomore defense
Brooke Lannon. In the latter half of the third period, the Bearcats found a power play opportunity and made the most of the chance. Sophomore forward
Kerstyn Barron fired the game-winner on the power play with sophomore forward
Jayna Barnden and junior defense
Aria Groot tallying assists.
McKendree held off the Saints to get the win with Staresinic getting the win in goal behind 19 saves.
