SEARCY, Ark. - McKendree University men's tennis captured its ninth win of the season on Wednesday afternoon against Harding University. With the 4-3 win, the Bearcats improved to 9-1 on the season with the win as they prepare for a home match next weekend.
McKendree secured the doubles point with two wins at the No.1 and No.2 matches. Fifth-year senior Leonardo Schmitz Frederico and sophomore Bendix Schroder grabbed a 6-4 win over Cas de Ruiter and Cian Mikkelsen while sixth-year senior Vishnu Prasad and sophomore Luka Kalenic also won 6-4 against Dani Ortiz and Teodor Zlatar.
In singles play, Schmitz Frederico handled the No.1 match against Ortiz 6-4, 6-2 followed by a No.2 singles match win from junior Seb Holden over Zlatar, 6-1, 5-7, 71-6. Prasad snagged an individual win at the No.4 spot against Mikkelsen, 6-4, 6-0, and fifth-year seior Lorenzo del Biondo defeated Bryce Walker 6-1, 6-2.
Coming up, the Bearcats host two matches, the first against Rockhurst on Saturday, March 23 followed by a match against William Jewell on Friday, March 29.
