Women's Water Polo Goes 3-0 at the WWPA Bearcat Clash

O'FALLON, Ill. - The McKendree University women's water polo team hosted the WWPA Bearcat Clash this weekend going 3-0. 

On day one of the tournament, the Bearcats went up against Gannon University defeating the Golden Knights 7-5 and Salem University 17-13. In the first game against the Golden Knights, McKendree was led in scoring by freshman Hailey Munoz with three goals and fifth-year Delaney Hall with two goals. On the Defensive side, junior Sydney Kane had 15 saves only allowing five goals. In game two against the Tigers, McKendree had seven different Bearcats in scoring. Sophomore Joey Rebelo and freshman Shanelle Márquez had four goals each and senior Jazmine Guzman added three. Rebelo also secured four assists and Guzman added three. Defensively, the Bearcats were led by Kane with 20 saves only allowing 13. Kane and Guzman secured four steals apiece. 

On the last day of the Bearcat Clash, the Bearcats defeated Mercyhurst University 11-10. The Bearcats were led in scoring by Rebelo with five goals and sophomore Jazmin Sandoval with four goals. Defensively, Kane had nine saves and senior Kaitlyn Kasper had three saves.

The Bearcats are back in action on March 30 as they travel to Kenosha, Wis. to compete against Carthage college at 2 p.m.
