SAINT CHARLES, Mo. – Entering the GLVC tournament as the eight-seed, the Bearcats had the task of battling the top-seeded and nationally-ranked University of Indianapolis Greyhounds on Thursday, March 7th on the campus of Lindenwood University. The Bearcats come up just short in the GLVC Quarterfinals by the score of 77-68.
Caleb Zurliene led the Bearcats in scoring with 16. With his basket late in the first half, Zurliene becomes the 54th member of the McKendree 1,000 point club. Zurliene pulled down seven rebounds, dished out five assists, registered two steals and one block. Milos Vicentic went 7-of-11 from the field for 15 points. Hayden Meakes, making his second consecutive start had 14 points, while Carson Parker was the fourth Bearcat in double figures with 12 points.
For the game, McKendree shot 24-of-47 from the field for 51.1 percent.
Before the game, the league presented its all-conference awards to those honored. From the Bearcats was Caleb Zurliene for Defensive Player of the Year, 2nd team All-GLVC and All-Defensive team. Milos Vicentic was recognized for his unanimous 1st team All-GLVC and Joey Niesman for being honored as the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship winner.
The Bearcats finished the season with an overall record of 15-13 (9-11 GLVC).
