CHICAGO, Ill. - McKendree University men's volleyball wrapped up its 2024 season on Saturday night as the No.7-seeded Bearcats fell to No.2-seeded Loyola University Chicago in three sets.
Loyola Chicago created early momentum to take the first and second sets 25-18. McKendree, who has been plagued by injuries for much of the season, found itself with many shifts in the lineup as well as momentum, and fell in set three 25-16. The Ramblers' lead proved to be insurmountable as LUC sealed the match 3-0.
McKendree was led in kills by sophomore right side hitter Bryce Wetjen who tallied nine on the day. Sophomore setter Jack Morikawa dished 13 assists for the Bearcats. On the defensive side, junior outside hitter Tyler Tripp popped up eight digs while sophomore middle blocker Rolen Lively secured five blocks.
The Bearcats end the season 14-12 overall and 8-8 in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association.
