LEBANON, Ill. – The Bearcats hosted the Division III Blackburn College Beavers for a midweek contest on Wednesday, April 24th. McKendree would use the 10-run rule after 7 innings to win the contest 13-3.
In the bottom of the 1st, McKendree loaded the bases with a Joey Kossina bunt single and back-to-back walks. Brandon Roth took the third pitch of the at-bat and laced to a double to right center to score Noah Nelson and Kossina. The next inning, Harrison Toone and Kossina singled in consecutive at-bats. Michael Paule ripped a double down the left field line to score those two for the 4-0 lead.
After adding a couple of runs via bases loaded walks, McKendree used two sacrifice flies by Brody Macak and Drake Schrodt to make it an 8-3 game through 4 innings. The bottom of the 5th saw the Bearcats score three runs on one hit as BC had a couple of miscues that extended the lead to 11-3.
The game ended with Mark Garcia singling down the left field line as he pinch hit for Kossina.
