ST. LOUIS, Mo. - McKendree University women's tennis defeated Maryville University on Saturday, April 27 to close out its regular season. The Bearcats took the victory 4-3 to improve to an 8-10 overall record and a 3-2 record in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.  

Maryville took the point in doubles by winning all three matches, though the Bearcats would come back in singles play to take the win. In the No.3 match, senior Rhyan Cook defeated Nazli Saka 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore Iva Poleksic defeated Caitlyn Sporing in the No.4 match 7-5, 6-2 while junior Sofija Djunisijevic took the 6-4, 6-4 win against Maria Gouveia. Senior Maria Vitoria Salomao secured the Bearcat win in the No.6 match, defeating Maria Paula Suarez 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.  

Up next, the Bearcats await the announcement of the seeding for the GLVC tournament. The tournament will be held on May 3-5 in Springfield, Mo.
