ROLLA, Mo. - McKendree University softball (24-17, 7-7 GLVC) split its Sunday afternoon doubleheader at Misosuri S&T, winning the first game of the day, 8-3, to snap a five-game skid but fell in game two, 3-1. The Bearcats battery knocked 13 hits overall on the day with their highest in-conference run total of 2024 with eight runs in the win over the Miners. McKendree returns to Bearcat Field for its next pair of GLVC doubleheaders with Truman State and Upper Iowa on April 13 and 14.

GAME 1 @ Missouri S&T
The Bearcats went down in the first game of the day, with S&T taking a 1-0 advantage in the second. The third inning found McKendree taking the lead with a three-run shot by sophomore infielder Lauren Harris, scoring junior utility Heaven Lawrence and senior outfielder Jordan Sapp. The Bearcats then continued scoring in the fourth and fifth with senior outfielder Taylor Witges and junior infielder Sarah Roth reaching home via wild pitch in the fourth to lead 5-1. 

The fifth found three more runs for the visiting-Bearcats with sophomore utility Jenna Getz dropping a single into right for graduate infielder Olivia Stansbury to score. Witges then added her own single to score junior infielder Sarah Roth and senior infielder Reagan Cheely. 

McKendree held off the Miners to snap a five-game skid with the offensive showing while senior pitcher Ellie Quaethem (14-7) tossed the full game with 10 strikeouts, tying her season-high.

GAME 2 @ Missouri S&T
McKendree went up 1-0 in the latter contest of the doubleheader with Harris reaching on a fly ball with Lawrence scoring in the process. The Bearcats led 1-0 over S&T following the top half of the third inning. S&T responded with a three-run homer to take a two run advantage, 3-1. 

McKendree was unable to complete the comeback during the late stages of the game with six individuals recording hits.
