Women's Volleyball Battles on Day Two of OBU Invitational

SHAWNEE, Okla. - McKendree University women's volleyball battles hard on day two of the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational falling to the University of Texas at Tyler and Oklahoma Baptist University. The Bearcats move to 2-6 on the season. 

In game one against UT Texas, the Bearcats fell to the Patriots in three sets with scores of 25-18, 25-19, and 25-18. Senior setter Amber Williams led the way for the Bearcats with 23 assists. Defensively, graduate student Colleen Preusser and freshman defensive specialist Emmerson Longtin each tallied 10 digs making it a career-high game in digs for Longtin. Freshman middle blocker Avery Guisinger had a career-high match in blocks with five. Preusser notched in eight kills on the offensive end and junior outside hitter Destiny Gray added six. 

McKendree started game two strong taking the first set with a score 25-23. The Bison regained momentum by taking the next two sets with scores of 25-19 and 25-19. The Bearcats took charge in the fourth set getting the win with a score of 25-23, but the Bison finished strong in the fifth set with a score of 15-13 taking the match win. 

Preusser had a dominating performance recording a double-double with 27 digs and 21 kills. Williams was the second Bearcat to also secure a double-double with 58 assists and 13 digs. Offensively, Gray concluded the second game notching in 21 kills and junior middle blocker Hannah Kampwerth had a career-high 11 kills. Chipping in defensively was junior libero Ashlyn Berczynski with 19 digs.

The Bearcats are back in action next Friday, Sept. 20th as they travel to St. Louis, Missouri to take on the University of Missouri - St. Louis.
