PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Bearcats started the 2024 campaign in the south against the 12th-ranked University of West Florida Argonauts on Thursday night, September 5th. The Argos went on to claim the opening week victory by the score of 38-6.
On the heels of two punt returns, UWF scored twice in a span of two minutes to make it 14-0 late in the first quarter. As the contest moved to the second quarter, the Bearcat defense was holding serve, until UWF used a 13 play, 90 yard drive to make it a three score game.
The lone scoring of the third quarter was a field goal by UWF to make it 24-0. McKendree got on the board with a 14 play, 74 yard drive that was capped off by an Eddie Clark three-yard touchdown run. UWF added two more scores to finish off the scoring.
The Bearcats will travel to conference newcomer Lincoln University on Saturday, September 14th with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
