LEBANON, Ill. – McKendree University Director of Athletics Anthony Francis has promoted Alex Figueras to Interim Head Water Polo Coach.

Figueras came to McKendree in August of 2023 when he was originally hired as the lead assistant coach of the men's and women's programs. Prior to McKendree, he coached with the St. Louis Area Polo Club where he instructed multiple skill levels of athletes. During the 2023 Junior Olympics, he earned a gold medal in the U18 Division as the assistant coach.

He competed collegiately with Washington University in St. Louis from 2019 through 2022, where he served as the team captain. Prior to WashU, he spent a year at Pitzer College. He helped the team get ranked as high as 15th nationally, while they won their conference and qualified for the NCAA tournament.

Figueras holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis.
