FULLERTON, Calif. – The Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) announced on Wednesday, October 29th, their Players of the Week winners, with McKendree's junior attacker Armand Le Goff (Reims, France) accumulating his second offensive recognition for the season.
Le Goff was an exceptional factor in the recent Salem Invitation this past weekend, where he finished the event first in total goals (22), total points (33), field blocks (3), goals per game (5.5), and points per game (8.3). He also was top 10 in total assists (2nd – 11), sprint wins (T-4th – 2), total steals (T-7th – 5), and assists per game (2nd – 2.8). The French native shot 66.7% on the net in the four-game trip and drew five exclusions in the process.
"I am very happy for Armand," said Head Coach Miguel Figueras. "He has really grown as a person both in and out of the water since coming to McKendree. His teammates look up to him, and socially, they love being around him. But it's not limited to just McKendree. On every trip we have been on, Armand has had friends come out to see him play, and they speak very highly of him. I also know his family back home is very proud of him. In fact, Arnaud Robinet, the Mayor of Reims, France, has declared today "Armand Le Goff Day" and is baking baguettes for the entire village to celebrate. Vive Armand!"
The Bearcat newcomer has been the focal point for the program all season long on the attacking end of the water, where he currently leads the team in shots (154), goals (78), assists (38), points (116), and field blocks (18). Le Goff broke three program single-season records this past weekend for points (116; previously 105), goals (78; previously 70), and field blocks (18; previously 15).
Le Goff is within the top of the WWPA leaderboards in total goals (4th – 78), total assists (5th – 38), total points (3rd – 116), field blocks (T-1st – 18), total steals (8th – 30), goals per game (3rd – 3.5), assists per game (T-4th – 1.7), points per game (T-2nd – 5.3), and steals per game (T-6th – 1.4).
