Women's Soccer Routs Lincoln for Sixth-Straight Win

Eight Bearcats fire goals in dominant victory, Baker earns another shutout

LEBANON, Ill. | Leemon Field - McKendree University women's soccer (6-0-4, 6-0-1 GLVC) dominated its way to a sixth-straight victory and sixth-straight shutout with a 9-0 drubbing of Lincoln on Sunday afternoon. The Bearcats used eight goal-scorers with junior forward Aubrey Andrews firing the game-winner and another strong outing from junior goalkeeper Peyton Baker to propel themselves to the win, remaining unbeaten on the season. McKendree heads across the St. Louis metro for its next two bouts, taking on UMSL on October 10 and Maryville on October 11.

The Bearcats battled to build on a strong stretch of games with a five-game win streak on the line and an unbeaten record entering Sunday. McKendree dictated the pace of the contest early, nearly breaking through multiple times early but found a break-through in the 34th minute with junior forward Aubrey Andrews scoring first off a dish out by junior midfielder Maggie Gleckler. Following up the first goal was freshman forward Lyla Karolczak in the 42nd minute, marking her first collegiate goal with the assist going to junior forward Ella Post. The Bearcats headed into the intermission period with a 2-0 advantage.

The second half saw McKendree open up the tap with seven goals to more than solidify the victory which included two career-first goals. Sophomore forward Maddie Mauch added the third goal for the Bearcats in the 52nd with Gleckler adding her second assist of the day. Again in the 52nd minute, the Bearcats connected on an opportunity with sophomore forward Ella Rogan scoring her second of the season with sophomore defender Riley Hill adding the helper. To close out the 52nd minute, freshman Alina Ayran added another goal for the Bearcats in an unassisted score, pushing the lead to 5-0. The offensive bombardment continued for the Bearcats with the 53rd minute seeing another Mauch-Gleckler connection for Mauch's second goal of the contest and Gleckler's third assist of the day.

With a short gap in scoring, the sixth goal came in the 71st minute with freshman forward Khiyah Perkins firing her first collegiate goal to extend the lead. The 75th minute then saw another collegiate first as junior midfielder Georgia Cox sent a long ball over the keeper to add the eighth goal of the day with an assist going out to freshman forward Addie Gagen. McKendree's capstone to the day came in the 80th minute with a strong shot from junior forward Kennedy Newman finding the back of the net, to make the contest 9-0 for the Bearcats.
