LEBANON, Ill. | Leemon Field - McKendree University men's soccer (4-3-3, 4-1-2 GLVC) played to a draw on Sunday afternoon with a 1-1 result against the 12th-ranked Blue Tigers of Lincoln. The Bearcats fired away first with a penalty kick attempt earned and then scored behind sophomore midfielder
Henri Poll. McKendree hits the road for its next two contests, heading across the St. Louis metro with matchups at Missouri-St. Louis on October 10 and at Maryville on October 12.
The Bearcats capitalized early as they controlled the pace over Lincoln in the first half, taking a lead in the 18th minute. McKendree earned a penalty kick after a string of offensive advances with sophomore midfielder
Henri Poll tabbed to take the attempt. Poll blasted his shot into the back of the net, putting his team up with a 1-0 edge over Lincoln. McKendree held its 1-0 lead into the half and then into the second half.
McKendree had to hold off an aggressive push by Lincoln throughout the remainder of the game with Lincoln sneaking in a game-tying score in the 73rd.
The Bearcats and Blue Tigers went back and forth for the last stretch of the contest, with neither able to find the back of the net.
Since the league-opening loss to Rockhurst, the Bearcats continue their unbeaten streak of six games, moving to 4-1-2 in conference games overall.
