COLUMBIA, Mo. – The McKendree Men's Swim and Dive team traveled to Columbia Missouri for a dual meet against the University of Missouri at the Mizzou Aquatic Center this past Saturday.
Jakub Rynkiewicz walked away with two first place finishes on the day. The first win of the day came in the 1000-yard freestyle with a new personal best time of 9:13.39. The second one came in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:28.69, which was also a new season best for him as well.
Noah Brereton was also able to walk away with a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a season best time of 4:41.86. Michael Stooke and Domantas Tarnauskas earned season best times in the event with 4:43.27 and 4:45.50 respectively.
In the following event, Tyson Upton achieved a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a new season best time of 1:38.93. Later in the day Upton would go on to earn third in the 100-yard freestyle for his second individual podium finish.
Luke Ashbury also swam a new season best in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:41.97.
Then it was Joey Ovanic tying for second in the 100-yard backstroke with a season best time of 50.07. David Hammond and Carson Olson also earned season best times in the event of 51.17 and 51.79 respectively.
Vova Gavrysh took the next podium finish, earning second in the 200-yard butterfly with a 1:42.75, improving his personal best by five seconds. He also improved his personal best in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 46.93; this time also earned him a win in the event.
Caden Brooks and Luis Villalobos Matson improved their season best times in the 200-yard butterfly with times of 1:51.93 and 1:55.09 respectively.
Brooks achieved a third-place finish in the 400-individual medley with another season best time of 4:02.44.
Gavrysh, Upton, Daniel de Oliveira and Phin Theall earned a third-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a combined time of 2:57.80.
Adin Peper and Finn Moseley both competed in the one- and three-meter diving events at the meet. Peper was able to earn a total of 336.75 points while Moseley finished with 273.53 respectively.
Next, McKendree will be headed back to Columbia, Missouri for the Mizzou Invitational from November 20th through the 22nd. The invitational will also be held at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
