LEBANON, Ill. | Leemon Field - #3 seed McKendree University men's soccer locked up its spot in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament Semifinal with a dominant 3-0 victory on Sunday evening, defeating #6 Drury in a rout. The Bearcats fired the game-winner in the second half as sophomore forward Adam Reiniger found the back of the net just minutes into the latter period. McKendree heads across St. Louis to Creve Coeur Soccer Park for the semifinal round as they face off against #2 seed Lincoln (RV) on Thursday, November 13 at 7:00PM.

McKendree and Drury faced off in a cold, windy afternoon bout that slowly built up in action as the contest furthered into the evening. The first half saw little action overall but both teams found a number of chances as the Bearcats fired four shots while the Panthers tallied six. The halftime intermission came and the two squads were knotted at 0-0.

In the second half, the Bearcats moved in for an advantage quickly, striking in the 48th minute behind the foot of Reiniger, who made it 1-0. The rest of the half had McKendree setting the pace of the contest with 11 total shots coming from the host and nine going on-goal. The Bearcats startled the Panthers in the 69th minute, causing choas around the Drury goal, resulting in an own goal by the visitor to make it a 2-0 contest. In the 84th minute, McKendree struck once again as freshman midfielder Bjarki Bjornsson fired his first collegiate goal on a scramble near Drury's 18-yard box.

McKendree held its 3-0 advantage throught the end of the game to move to its third-straight GLVC semifinals while sophomore goalkeeper Toby Lewis collected another clean sheet performance.
