Bearcat Women's Basketball rolls past Eureka

McKendree overwhelms Red Devils, cruises to wire-to-wire home win

Lebanon, IL - McKendree University Women's Basketball put together its most complete performance of the season on Tuesday night, racing out to a dominant early lead and never looking back in a 97-37 victory over the Eureka Red Devils (0-7, 0-2 SLIAC) at the Statham Sports Center. The Bearcats (5-3, 2-1 GLVC) forced turnovers at a relentless rate, converted consistently in transition and the paint, and used balanced scoring to turn the game into a runaway.

McKendree set the tone immediately, forcing Eureka into repeated early miscues and turning defense into offense. The Bearcats opened the game on a 27-2 run, capitalizing on turnovers, second-chance opportunities, and fast break looks. Emma Slings knocked down a three during the opening surge, while Kyra Taylor, Taylor Fohey, and Tessa Crawford finished at the rim as McKendree overwhelmed the Red Devils on both ends. Eureka was held to just one made field goal in the opening 10 minutes as the Bearcats closed the quarter firmly in control.

The pressure only intensified in the second quarter. McKendree continued to jump passing lanes and push the pace, ballooning the lead behind a flurry of layups and transition baskets. Jayce Privia repeatedly turned steals into points, while Hannah Fenton, Chloe White, and Fohey added to the scoring punch. By halftime, the Bearcats had forced a staggering number of turnovers and carried a commanding 56-9 advantage into the locker room.

McKendree never let up coming out of the break, opening the third quarter with more defensive stops and quick strikes in transition. Morgan Feil delivered a strong stretch offensively, scoring inside and on the break, while Fohey continued to control the paint. The Bearcats outscored Eureka 21-9 in the quarter, extending the margin to 77-18 and keeping full control of tempo and execution.

With the outcome long-since decided, McKendree was able to showcase their depth, and it certainly shined in the final quarter. Feil caught fire from beyond the arc, knocking down multiple threes, while Olivia Corson and Fenton added scoring off turnovers. The Bearcats continued to rebound and defend through the final horn, closing out the 60-point victory in convincing fashion.
