Men’s Tennis Goes 1-2 in Oklahoma and Texas Trip

DALLAS, Texas – McKendree Unviersity men's tennis team faced three teams on their spring break trip in Oklahoma and Texas, going 1-2.

Mckendree 2, Southestern Oklahoma State University 4
On Thursday, March 6th, the Bearcats started off strong, taking the double point, winning the No.2 and No.3 matches. No. 2 match duo juniors Luka Kalenic and Aimar Oregui defeated Fracassi and Kurcubic 7-5, while the No. 3 match duo sophomores Mathijs Aalpol and Stepan took down Palomares and Ching 6-4.

In singles play, No. 1 match, senior Seb Holden recorded the only win, taking down Ching 6-3, 6-3.

McKendree University 1, Southern Arkansas University 4
The Bearcats lose the double point, dropping the No. 2 and No. 3 matches.

In singles play, the sole win of the day comes from sophomore Stepan Mach taking down No.56th ranked Tim Fischer, 7-5, 6-3 in the No. 2 match.

Saturday's double header against Western New Mexico University and Lubbock Christian University was canceled due to weather.

McKendree University 4, Collin County Community College 2
The Bearcats picked up a game on Monday March 9th after their Saturday double header was canceled. The Bearcats defeat Collin CC 4-2.

The Bearcats have a tough start, losing the doubles point, falling in all three doubles matches.

In singles play, senior Seb Holden defeated Atlamis in three sets in the No.1 match. Sophomore Stepan Mach went three sets with Castillo, coming out on top. The final two wins came from the No. 5 match junior Luka Kalenic over Takumi and sophomore Mathijs Aalpol defeating Martinez 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 6 match.

Up next, the Bearcats will host a double header against Northwood University and Southwestern Illinois College. The matches will be played at Southwestern Illinois College on Thursday, March 13th at 11:00 a.m (vs. Northwood University) and 4:00 p.m. (vs. SWIC)
