O'FALLON, Ill. - The women's water polo team took control early on and never looked back on senior day against Carthage College in non-conference action at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex in O'Fallon, Illinois.

Score: McKendree University 15, Carthage College 8

HOW IT HAPPENED

McKendree to control throughout the entire first half as they notched in the nine goals of the game with sophomore attacker Shanelle Márquez (Madrid, Spain) contributing in on a pair while the other seven were dropped in by a vast array of players.

Carthage finally got on the board with a little over three minutes remaining until halftime. That would ignite them on a small three-goal run after the Bearcats put senior goalkeeper Sydney Kane (Kankakee, Ill.) in with the rest of the field players to showcase her offensive skillset.

McKendree responded to the Firebirds' 3-0 scoring spurt with a trio of consecutive goals themselves to put themselves back up by nine with a minute and 30 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

The Bearcats fired in three more goals in the final period of regulation as Carthage notched in four more of their own. McKendree would pick up their 18th win of the season with a 15-8 victory over the Firebirds in their home waters.
