INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. | Great Lakes Valley Conference - McKendree University softball junior pitcher
Sami Huck, who helped lead the 22nd-ranked Bearcats to another 3-1 weekend, earned the GLVC's Pitcher of the Week honors after a 2-0, 0.00 ERA performance during a road weekend, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Huck and the Bearcats collected three wins over St. Louis adversaries, sweeping Missouri-St. Louis and splitting against Maryville, with Huck tallying two wins while allowing zero earned runs and just one crossing the plate through the weekend while posting a 0.643 WHIP. Huck and her squad improved to 26-13 overall and 12-4 in league play with the weekend results. McKendree and Huck return to action on April 5 with a doubleheader against the Prairie Stars in Springfield, Illinois.
Huck's weekend kicked off with a 1-hit performance against the Saints on Friday afternoon, which also saw her fifth shutout in another complete game for the junior. She tallied eight punch outs over the seven-inning contest while earning her 10th victory of the spring campaign with the 2-0 win over Maryville. The latter start for Huck included a zero-earned run contest as the Bearcats handled the Tritons, 4-1, as Huck put up another eight strikeouts, pushing her league-leading strikeout total to 78 in conference-play. Huck, who joined the Bearcats this year from JeffCo, holds an 11-6 record on the year over 117.1 innings in the circle while posting a 2.33 ERA with 160 strikeouts, including 16 games with seven-plus. The junior also gets after it at the plate as she holds a .364/.409/.441 slash on the season with 43 hits, 33 runs scored, and 52 total bases.
