SPRINGFIELD, Ill – Mens Tennis improves to 3-2 in the GLVC over the weekend, defeating Lewis and UIS.

McKendree 4, Lewis 3

On Friday, April 25^th, the Bearcats traveled to Romeoville, Ill to take on the Flyers of Lewis University. The Bearcats come home with a 4-3 win.

In doubles play, the Flyers take the point.

In singles play, senior Seb Holden defeats Leal 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 1 match. In the No. 2 match, sophomore Stepan Mach wins over Soome in three sets, 6-4, 6(6)-7)8), 6-4. In the No. 6 match, sophomore Giacomo Valerga takes down Miller 6-1, 6-0. Clinching the match was sophomore Felix Diedrichs winning his No. 5 match in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 7(7)-6(3).

McKendree 6, UIS 1

On Saturday, April 26^th, the Bearcats traveled to Springfield, Ill to take on University of Illinois Springfield. The Bearcats improve to 3-2 in the GLVC with the 6-1 win over UIS.

In doubles play, the Bearcats take the point, winning all three doubles matches. No. 1 match of junior duo Luka Kalenic and Aimar Oregui winning 7(7)-6(3). The No. 2 match of Mach and junior Bendix Schroeder won 6-2, and the No. 3 match of sophomores Mathijs Aalpol and Diedrichs won by forfeit. 

In singles play, No. 1 match Holden wins over Herrera in three sets, while Mach wins his No. 2 match 6-2, 6-4. Diedrichs takes down Pieringer 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 4 match. The No. 5 and No. 6 match were won due to forfeit. Kalenic and Valerga secure those wins.
