KENOSHA, Wis. – Women's Volleyball competed in their second match at the Hampton Inn Invitational. The Bearcats faced off against the Bemidji State University Beavers. Bemidji State outlasted McKendree, handing the Bearcats a 0-3 loss with the scores of 21-25, 20-25, 17-25.
In McKendree's match up with the Beavers, the Bearcats struggled to find an offensive answer. Senior outside hitter Destiny Gray led the team with 8 kills and freshman opposite Avery Wuebbels tagged on 6 kills to try and spark some life into McKendree. Despite senior libero Ashlyn Berczynski's 10 digs and Gray's 8, the Beavers' offensive production was what handed them the edge over the Bearcats. The defensive efforts for both teams alike were evenly matched, both recorded 58 digs. Bemidji State recorded a total of 40 kills on the match, hitting at a .235%. McKendree only tallied up 26 kills while maintaining a hitting percentage of .160%. The Bearcats are still searching for their first win of the season.
Next up for the Bearcats at the Hampton Inn Invitational will be the Roosevelt University Lakers tomorrow, September 13th, at 9:00 A.M. followed by a 3:30 P.M. match against the Winona State University Warriors.
