BELLEVILLE, Ill. – McKendree University men's tennis defeated Southwestern Illinois College and Maryville University in a double header on Wednesday, September 17^th, 7-0 and 6-1 respectively.

The Bearcats defeated the Blue Storm 7-0. The Bearcats swept the doubles matches, giving them the doubles point. Finishing first was no.3 duo freshman Ajay Meischke and sophomore Alex Patrick, winning their match 6-2. The no. 1 match finished next, senior Aimar Oregui and junior Giacomo Valerga winning 6-3, giving the Bearcats the doubles point. Finishing off the doubles sweep was no. 2 duo junior Mathijs Aalpol and sophomore Emile Potgens, winning 6-1.

In singles play, Valerga played the no. 1 match, winning 6-4, 6-4. In the no. 2 spot, senior Arhaan Pahwa defeated his opponent 6-4, 6-2. Potgens played in the no. 3 match, winning 6-1, 6-2 in less than an hour. Meischke won the no. 4 match 6-4, 6-3, while senior Ankit Nandal won the no. 6 match 6-3, 6-3. Patrick finished off the wins at the no. 5 spot, taking his opponent to an almost two-hour battle, winning 6-1, 5-7, 10-8.

After taking a short break between matches, the Bearcats turned around and beat the Saints of Maryville University 6-1.

In doubles play, the Bearcats swept the doubles matches, winning the point. In the no. 1 match, senior duo Bendix Schroeder and Luka Kalenic defeated Lorenzo Biava and Markos Prentits 6-3. Freshman Ignacio Paolini and junior Felix Diedrichs took down Diego Alvarez Gutierrez and Jack Quilty 6-4 in the no. 2 slot. Completing the doubles sweep at the no. 3 slot, junior Stepan Mach and freshman Riccardo Ercolani won 7(7)-6(2) over Jose Hernandez Saracho and Michel Delaloye.

In singles play, the no.1, no. 2 and no. 3 matches all took almost two hours to complete. The Bearcats won two of the three, all going two matches. In the no. 1 spot, Mach defeats Biava 6-4, 6-2. In the no. 2 spot, Schroeder won 7-5, 7-5 over Alvarez Gutierrez. Paolini drops the no.3 match 4-6, 4-6 to Delaloye. Kalenic played the no. 4 match, winning 6-0, 6-1 over Quilty, while Ercolani wins 6-1, 6-3 over Prentits. Rounding out the wins on the day at the no. 6 match was Oregui winning 7-5, 6-2.
