BOLIVAR, Mo. - McKendree University women's soccer (3-0-4, 3-0-1 GLVC) won its third-straight game with a second consecutive shutout, defeating Southwest Baptist 2-0 on Friday evening. The Bearcats were led to victory by junior midfielder
Maggie Gleckler, who scored both McKendree goals on the day. The Bearcats continue their road weekend with a Sunday bout at Drury in Springfield at 12:00PM.
McKendree took its lead early and never looked back with a fourth-minute goal by Gleckler, who then led her team with four scores this fall. The Bearcats sent seven shots overall in the first half, putting five on-goal in the first 45 minutes of play. In the 16th minute, McKendree was awarded a free kick just outside of the 18 yard box which Gleckler set up to take. The junior fired a low-flying ball into the box which caromed past the SBU defense for her second goal of the contest and fifth of the season. McKendree held a 2-0 advantage at the half time intermission period whild then holding SBU to nearly no offensive chances in the second half.Â
The Bearcats remained unbeaten on the campaign with the win (3-0-4), moving to 3-0-1 in league play, while junior goalkeeper
Peyton Baker earned her second shutout of the year with three saves on the day.Â
