LEBANON, Ill. | Leemon Field - McKendree University men's soccer (3-7-2, 2-5-2 GLVC) chalked a win back up on board with a commanding 5-1 victory over William Jewell, marking its first win since Spetember 12. The Bearcats began early with two goals in the first half before stacking scores late in the game to seal with win over WJC. The headliner for McKendree was freshman forward
Dusan Dordevic, who recorded a hat trick in the contest, his first three collegiate goals. McKendree looks to begin a streak of wins as it hosts Missouri-St. Louis in its home regular season finale on Wednesday, October 14, at 7:30PM at Leemon Field.
The Bearcats jumped at the opportunity to get back in the win column after some tough recent outings, starting off with a goal in the eighth minute of action. The first score of the night came via sophomore defender
Oscar Misic, who got the dish out from sophomore forward
Fredrik Thulin, giving McKendree the 1-0 advantage. After a lengthy back-and-forth stretch, McKendree found its way deep into the Cardinals' defensive end with Dordevic receiving an assist from senior forward
Lenny Dupoyet, and firing for the score. McKendree led 2-0 at the end of the half with Dordevic's first goal serving as the eventual game-winner.
William Jewell fired back to cut McKendree's advantage in the 69th minute of action, 2-1, but the Bearcats responded promptly in the 71st. The goal in response came off a three-man play with Dordevic adding his second goal of the night and his career when Thulin played a ball off to graduate defender
Owen Lewis, who made a quick play to the freshman forward. McKendree kept its 3-1 lead until the 81st when Thulin earned a foul in the box, giving him a penalty kick, which he scored with ease. McKendree led 4-1 until the 89th with a long dribble play for Dordevic, who made it through the defenses and blasted his third goal for a hat trick.
