LEBANON, Ill. -- The McKendree women's volleyball team fell to Upper Iowa University in three on Friday, Oct. 2 in the Melvin Price Convention Center during the team's Breast Cancer Awareness match.
After a small delay of start, the Bearcats stuck out defensively, earning 41 total digs as a team, while libero Bianca Galaviz led with nine, followed by right side Madelyn Clarke with seven. The Bearcats earned more blocks than the peacocks, totaling 4 as a team, Clarke holding the team high with two. Setter Peyton Uptgraft earned 19 assists for McKendree, and ran the McKendree offense giving middle Avery Guisinger six kills, followed by Clarke and outside hitter Reece Distler with four kills each.
McKendree's most efficient set was the second, where the Bearcats registered seven kills and limited themselves to four errors. Entering the third set, McKendree focused on offensive pressure, and ended the match with a high of 10 kills.
The Bearcats will face Truman State University Saturday, Oct. 3 at 3 p.m. in the MPCC, looking to earn a conference win.
