Indianapolis, IN - McKendree University men's golfer Simon Meiby and women's golfer Chiara Bortolotti have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Men's and Women's Golfers of the Week, respectively, following their individual championship performances at Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville, Illinois.
The Bearcat duo swept the conference's weekly golf honors after each captured medalist honors, highlighting a successful tournament for both McKendree programs that included a women's team championship and a third-place tie for the men's A squad.
It is the second career honor for Meiby, who was recognized as such for his runner-up performance in the Arch Cup earlier this fall, while Bortolotti also wins her second career GLVC Golfer of the Week, with the last one coming in September of 2024, which is also the last time a McKendree Women's Golfer was honored.

Meiby claimed individual medalist honors after firing an eight-under-par 208 across 54 holes, carding rounds of 70, 72 and 66 on the par-72, 6,743-yard layout.
After opening the tournament with a two-under 70 and following with an even-par 72, Meiby saved his best performance for the final round, posting a six-under-par 66 to secure the individual championship.
Meiby opened his final round with a two-under 34 on the front nine before catching fire down the stretch, recording a four-under 32 on the back nine. His closing performance featured six birdies without a bogey, helping him finish the tournament eight strokes below par.
Meiby's performance helped McKendree's A squad finish tied for third in the team standings at one-under-par 863 (292-295-276). The Bearcats saved their best team round for the final day, combining for a 12-under-par 276 to climb the leaderboard.

Bortolotti completed McKendree's sweep of the weekly awards after capturing the women's individual championship with a two-over-par 218, recording rounds of 75, 73 and 70 on the par-72, 5,802-yard course.
The Bearcat standout improved her score in each round of the tournament, beginning with a three-over 75 before shaving two strokes off her total with a one-over 73 in the second round.
Bortolotti closed the tournament with her best round of the event, firing a two-under-par 70 that included matching one-under 35s on the front and back nine. Her final round featured birdies on the first, 10th and 17th holes as she finished the championship on a strong note.
Her individual victory also helped propel the McKendree women's team to the tournament championship, as the Bearcats finished with a 54-hole total of 902 (+38), securing the team title by an impressive 22-stroke margin.
The individual victories marked a clean sweep of medalist honors for McKendree at Far Oaks, with Meiby and Bortolotti now adding conference weekly recognition to their championship performances.

The fall season is over for the Bearcat Women's Golf team, but the Men's Team has one more tournament to conclude their fall season. They'll head to The Pearl Club in Owensboro, Kentucky to play in the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, October 24th and 25th.
