SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – McKendree women's soccer (14-2-1, 10-2-1 GLVC) went on the road to defeat the University of Illinois Springfield (7-6-3, 5-5-3) with Senior forward Aubrey Andrews getting the game winning goal in the 67th minute. The Bearcats plays its last regular season game against Southwest Baptist on Saturday October 24th at 12:00 PM in Bolivar, Missouri.
After a quiet first half with only six shots and four corners combined, the action started to ramp up in the second half with both teams trying to get that winning goal. Then in the 67th minute graduate student Macie Begley played the ball off to Andrews where she would hit a half-volley into the upper half of the net. This marks her 11th goal of the season and puts her third in the conference in that category.
Senior goalkeeper Peyton Baker had her seventh clean sheet of the season, making four saves in the contest.
With the win, it locks in the 12th straight Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament berth for the Bearcats.
