ROCKFORD, Ill. – No. 15 McKendree women's bowling competed in their first NCAA event of the year and took home a fourth place finish this past weekend at the Warhawk Classic hosted by the University of Wisconsin Whitewater.
McKendree had a great traditional day with Miranda Duff leading the way with a 193 average which landed her a spot on the All-Tournament team in third place. Addysen Case was closely behind her in sixth place, barely missing out on All-Tournament by four pins averaging 191.60. Jaycie Smith was just outside the top 30 at 31st with four accredited games averaging 192.25 and the highest traditional game on the team with a 257.
Gabryelle Martin and T.J. Cruz each had three accredited games with averages of 170.67 and 165.67 respectively. Vicki Andrews and Marisa Loft each had two accredited games and finished with averages of 178 and 169. Rounding out the individual scoring was Athena Maritn with one 168 game.
After the individual traditional games, the Bearcats would beat every opponent they faced through the four baker and five traditional matches and go 9-0 heading into the second day.
They would then play their last baker match against Lewis on the start of the third day to then get seeded No. 2 into the modified bracket. From there they would face No.3 seed Wisconsin-Whitewater where they would unfortunately fall 1-4 in a best of seven baker match. They would then fall again in a very close third-place game to Marian University to come out with a fourth-place finish.
The team will be making the trip to Des Plains, Ill. to compete in the Windy City Halloween Classic hosted by Le Moyne College. The tournament will be held at River Rand Bowl.
