O'FALLON, Ill. - McKendree men's tennis came close in a match against an experienced Tigers team, falling 4-3 at the St. Clair Tennis Club this past Saturday. 

Ignacio Paolini and Bendix Schroeder got a 7-6 victory in their respective matchup. Felix Diedrichs and Riccardo Ercolani found themselves on the wrong side of that 7-6 result narrowly missing out on the win.  

In the singles matches Paolini, Diedrichs and Ercolani each claimed an individual victory, getting the three points for McKendree.

Ignacio Paolini/ Bendix Schroeder (MKU) def. Ramon Strassmann/ Yarin Aebi (OBU) 7-6  

Moritz Buss/ Aaron Osmond (OBU) def. Felix Diedrichs/ Riccardo Ercolani (MKU) 7-6  

Tinus Mieller/ Maximilian (OBU) def. Luka Kalenic/ Emile Potgens (MKU) 6-3  

Singles Competition: 

Ramon Strassmann (OBU) def. Stepan Mach (MKU) 6-4, 6-4  

Yarin Aebi (OBU) def. Bendix Schroeder (MKU) 6-3, 6-4 

Ignacio Paolini (MKU) def. Moritz Buss (OBU) 6-1, 7-6  

Aaron Osmond (OBU) def. Luka Kalenic (MKU) 6-3, 6-4  

Felix Diedrichs (MKU) def. Guillaume Randoux (OBU) 7-6, 4-6 (10-7 TB)  

Riccardo Ercolani (MKU) def. Tinus Mueller (OBU) 7-6, 7-6 (7-4)

"The guys got close again, OBU is a tough team with some veterans on the squad. I'm thrilled with our freshmen and how much they have been stepping up. We were one point away from winning the doubles point so that's tough, but I am very encouraged due to the growth of the team from match-to-match".  

Next Up

The team will have a quick away trip to William Jewell for a match on Friday the 27th at 12:00 p.m. They will play at Clayview Country Club.
