Moore Named GLVC Freshman of the Year, Five Bearcats Recognized with All-GLVC Honors

Second Freshman of the Year Recognition for the Program, McKendree Collects a Pair of Sportsmanship Awards

LEBANON, Ill. — The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced its 2025-26 men's basketball All-GLVC honorees on Wednesday, March 4th, with five McKendree athletes recognized, along with a team sportsmanship award.

Freshman guard Andrew Moore (Montgomery County, Mo.) was a recipient of this year's GLVC Freshman of the Year award after becoming an immediate contributor to the program in his first year at the collegiate level. Starting in 27 of his 28 games played for the Bearcats, Moore averaged 11.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists with 1.0 steals per game, while in GLVC-only contests, he had averages of 11.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.0 steals. He had 17 double-figure scoring games with notching 20+ points three times, along with a trio of double-doubles

The guard ranked top-10 in GLVC-play on field goal percentage with 50.3% shooting, as he only shot under 50.0% five times out of his 28 contests. More also was named to the conference's All-Defensive and All-Freshman Teams, being the only player named to both those squads. This is the second-ever Freshman of the Year honor for the program, and first since Bryson Bultman earned one during the 2019-20 season.

Sophomore guard Rini Harris (O'Fallon, Ill.) was one of two Bearcats named to the All-GLVC First Team after showing an all-around display by averaging 13.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.9 blocks per contest in 28 games played with starting 27 of them. Harris had 19 games in double-figures, including his career-high 31-point performance at Hillsdale College on December 21st. The sophomore had 10 games with 10+ points, 5+ rebounds, and 3+ assists.

The Swiss Army Knife player in Harris also collected All-Defensive Team honors, as he was top-25 in conference play in rebounding (11th – 6.9), field goal percentage (17th – 47.3%), assists (20th – 2.8), blocks (12th – 0.9), and steals (22nd – 1.2).

Senior guard Cha'Vez Woods (Louisville, Ky.) was another McKendree player to have his name on the First Team All-GLVC and All-Defensive Team after averaging a team-high 15.5 points, along with 3.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 0.7 steals on 44.8% shooting from the floor and 37.8% from distance. Woods scored double-figures in 21 of his 27 games played, to which he started in all.

The volume shooter also had an impressive 10-game stretch of scoring double-digits from November 25th through January 8th where he was averaging 17.0 points in that span. The Louisville product was top 25 in conference play in scoring (11th – 16.1), field goal percentage (24th – 44.4%), free throw percentage (13th – 82.4%), three-point field goal percentage (9th – 40.4%), three-point field goal makes (15th – 2.1), and assists (25th –2.3).

Fifth-year forward Noah Franklin (Cobden, Ill.) was tabbed to the All-GLVC Second Team while closing out his collegiate career on 11.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.8 blocks averages on 54.8% shooting from the floor and 41.1% from three. He had three double-doubles with four games with 10+ boards and 15 outings with at least 50.0% on field goal attempts.

Franklin led the conference in league play in field goal percentage (56.2%) while placing in the top-25 in rebounding (12th – 6.8) and free throw percentage (21st – 76.5%).

Senior guard Caleb Burton (O'Fallon, Ill.) was McKendree's recipient of the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award. Burton is one of 15 student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These individuals must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees from full-time GLVC member institutions are now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.

The O'Fallon native was nothing short of a team-first player, as he boosted the morale and competitiveness of the McKendree program immensely night in and night out.

The McKendree men's basketball team was this year's Team Winner of the GLVC's James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award by showing ethical and sportsmanship behavior throughout the 2025-26 season and showcasing themselves as one of the most respected programs in the nation.

"Rini, Vez, Andrew, Caleb, and Noah are all more than deserving of the recognition from the conference," said Head Coach George Suggs. "Each of them earned these awards through a ton of hard work and support from their teammates. Not only is this a recognition of their talent and accomplishments, but it also honors the success of this team. Each one of these guys will happily put their team ahead of themselves and have done so all year long."
