TROY, Mich. – McKendree women's hockey (20-8-1, 12-4-1 WMCH) was selected as the fourth seed going into the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) W1 National Tournament hosted in St. Louis, Missouri.
The team is coming off the Women's Midwest Collegiate Hockey (WMCH) Conference Tournament where they won the quarterfinal matchup against No.10 Jamestown. After moving on to the semifinal they would fall to No. 2 Midland.
The 20-8-1 effort on the season was enough to earn a No.4 seed going into the ACHA National Tournament. They were placed in Pool D with No. 5 Maryville and No. 9 Arizona State University (ASU).
In previous match ups this season McKendree has won every meeting between the Sun Devils and Saints. The last time ASU and McKendree played it was back in November, and the Bearcats came out with a 1-0 and 2-0 victory. Maryville has been more of a familiar foe this season, between four match ups throughout the year McKendree has won every one by scores of 6-4 and 5-4 in October and 5-3 and 3-1 on January 30th and February 1st.
Games will be played on Wednesday, March 18th against No. 9 ASU at 11 a.m.; the second game against No. 5 Maryville will be Thursday, March 19th also at 11 a.m. Both games will be played at the Centene Community Ice Center in Saint Louis, Missouri.
