Lebanon, IL – McKendree University Men's Tennis battled in a competitive matchup but fell 5-2 to Maryville, with several tightly contested singles matches ultimately deciding the outcome. The Bearcats picked up two singles victories and pushed multiple courts to the brink, but a narrow doubles point loss and a pair of three-set defeats proved costly.

In doubles, McKendree earned a win at No. 2 as Riccardo Ercolani and Felix Diedrichs secured a solid 6-4 victory. However, Maryville claimed the point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3, including a tightly contested match at the third spot that helped the Saints take a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

In singles, McKendree responded with strong efforts in the middle of the lineup. Bendix Schroeder delivered a dominant performance at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-0 win, while Luka Kalenic added another point at No. 4 with a straight-set victory.

The match ultimately turned on a pair of close courts. Stepan Mach battled to three sets at No. 3 before falling 7-5 in the final set, and Ercolani pushed his match at No. 5 to a deciding tiebreak but came up just short. Maryville also secured wins at No. 1 and No. 6 to clinch the team result.
