NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) released its 2026 All-Region Selections on Wednesday, May 13th, as McKendree senior attacker Jayna Barnden (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) was named to the Second Team list.
Barnden was tabbed to the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) First Team squad and was twice selected as the GLVC Offensive Player of the Week this season. She led the Bearcats in goals (56), assists (24), points (80), shots (109), shots on goal (92), game-winning goals (5), free position goals (5), and free position shots (17), while also rounding out with 28 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers, nine draw controls, and shot 51.4% overall and 84.4% on the goal.
The native of Canada is currently top-25 in all of NCAA Division II in free position percentage (24th – 58.8%) goals per game (6th – 4.0), points per game (10th – 5.7), shots per game (11th – 7.8), and shots on goal per game (3rd – 6.6). Barnden was a key factor in McKendree's 11 wins this year, including a memorable eight-game win streak.
"I am thrilled to see Jayna make All-Region," said Head Coach Natalie Simpson. "She is one tough competitor, both on the field and in the classroom, and she deserves to end her McKendree career with this recognition, as she will go down as one of the program's all-time greats!"
