FULLERTON, Calif. – The Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) release their annual Preseson Coaches Poll ahead of the 2026 campaign on Thursday, August 27th, as McKendree was picked fifth. 

In the seven-team conference, which includes a new full-time member University of California, Merced, it is the third time the Bearcats were placed at the five spot in their four years as a member of the WWPA. 

This will mark year number two of the Miguel Figueras era, as he led last year's team to an 11-13 overall record with a competitive non-conference slate, while going 2-2 in conference play. He brings back 15 returners from last year's squad, including seven seniors and six starters, to go with eight newcomers. 

McKendree will begin their competition this weekend at the Triton Invitational on the campus of the University of California San Diego from Friday, August 28th through Sunday, August 30th. Full coverage details can be found at mckbearcats.com.
