Aubrey Andrews capped the week for McKendree University women's soccer (6-1-0, 2-1-0 GLVC) with a hat trick against Upper Iowa, leading the offensive effort to a 5-0 shutout win over the Peacocks on Saturday afternoon. Peyton Baker split time in net for the contest with Day receiving the start. Sophomore forward
Lyla Karolczak tallied the other two goals for the Bearcats, marking her first two goals of the 2026 campaign. McKendree finally gets back to its home turf on Wednesday, September 16, with a 5:00PM kick off against Drury at Leemon Field in Lebanon.
The Bearcats looked to regain its foothold in the league over the week and after they handled business on Wednesday, the squad looked ahead to the weekend in Iowa. McKendree battled to open the game but put its foot down quickly with three first half goals, as the eventual game-winner was fired in the 20th minute. The game-winner came off the foot of Andrews who collected a dish-off from junior forward
Maddie Mauch and fired away for the score and 1-0 advantage. The goal was Andrews' first game-winner of the campaign while it marked Mauch's first assist of the fall season. Just a few minutes later, the lead was extended to 2-0 for the Bearcats with Karolczak tallying her first goal of the year as Mauch put up another assist. To round out the first half, Andrews got a rebound on a launched ball from senior defender
Zoe Cormier, sending it into the lower corner to further the lead. McKendree held a 3-0 advantage at the half, sending 15 shots to UIU's one with nine on-frame while holding the Peacocks to none.
The second half saw the Bearcats ramp up the pressure with 17 shots and 13 on-goal, putting up their fourth score in the 78th minute of action. The fourth goal for McKendree came off the foot of Andrews, completing the hat-trick performance, with junior defender
Miranda Malcom adding the assist on the play. The 81st minute saw McKendree blast its final score of the day with Karolczak adding her second of the contest as junior forward
Ella Rogan dished out the helper.
McKendree held UIU to just four total shots and two on-goal, putting 22 of 32 of its own shots on-frame. Day and Baker split time in net on the day, earning the combined shutout.
