LEBANON, Ill. | Leemon Field - 24th-ranked McKendree University women's soccer (9-1-0, 5-1-0 GLVC) was locked and loaded for its Wednesday evening battle against the University of Indianapolis, firing away with a 6-0 victory behind two multi-goal performances. The Bearcats were led by senior forward
Aubrey Andrews, who tallied the game-winner and an insurance goal, as well as junior forward
Maddie Mauch, who collected a pair of goals in the win. McKendree looks to stay on track with another home bout on Saturday, September 26, at 12:00PM against Truman State at Leemon Field in Lebanon.
The outing began with a short back-and-forth between the Bearcats and Hounds, with McKendree breaking through early and not letting off throughout the remainder of the contest. In the 16th minute, Andrews put her team ahead off a cross by sophomore defender
Addie Gagen, marking Andrews seventh goal of the campaign and second game-winner of the fall. To follow up on the first score, Andrews then took it herself to make the contest 2-0 in the 23rd minute. Closing out the first half was GLVC offensive leader, Mauch, as she put in an unassisted score in the 44th to put McKendree up 3-0.
The second half saw another trio of goals for McKendree with senior defender
Zoe Cormier heading her second score of the fall as the assist came from senior midfielder
Maggie Gleckler, yet again. The Bearcats led 4-0 in the 47th minute. Mauch then found another unassisted score on a breakaway in the 63rd, her ninth goal of the season, for the 5-0 advantage. Sophomore forward
Khiyah Perkins then put the cherry on top for the Bearcats in the 68th, as junior defender
Taylor Carson dished out the helper to earn her first career assist and point.
McKendree capped the lead at 6-0 with a clean sheet coming to senior goalkeeper
Peyton Baker, who grabbed three saves on the day. The Bearcats led 25-7 on shots, 16-3 for shots on-goal while earning eight corner kicks.
