BEFORE McK: Before Pirtle's transfer to McKendree for the 2020 season, she attended Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Ill., for two seasons. In her sophomore season, she posted a batting average of 0.381, 43 hits, 12 doubles, one triple, one homerun, 16 run-base-in's (RBIs), had 0.531 slugging percentage, a 0.412 on-base percentage and a 0.926 (conference play) fielding percentage. She led her team, both years, in hitting and was named First Team Academic All-American.

Pirtle had a notable career at Sullivan High School, on and off the field. As a four-year infielder for the Arrows, Pirtle obtained awards for the lowest ERAs, most strikeouts and best fielding percentage. She posted a batting average of 0.320, fielding percentage of 0.913, earned-run average of 2.30 and 30 strikeouts her senior season. Pirtle pitched furing their 2014 conference championship game and took home first-place, and then went on to win the West Division of their conference in 2017. Throughout her four years she was names All-Conference her freshman, sophomore and senior year. Academically, Pirtle graduated as Valedictorian and honored as Academic All-State.
