Biography

AS A JUNIOR (2016): Pitched in five games, all in relief...appeared in 1 2/3 innings on the mound for the Bearcats...collected Academic All-GLVC honors.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2015): Made 12 relief appearances...led the McKendree staff with a 2.70 earned-run average...pitched two innings in three consecutive appearances (April 1-7)...held left-handers to a .231 average...earned Academic All-GLVC honors.

AS A FRESHMAN (2014): Pitched in nine games -- all in relief -- during his first year at McKendree...had a 1-0 record with a 5.56 earned-run average...picked up lone decision in an 8-7 Bearcats' victory over Quincy on April 29 in the team's final home doubleheader of the year...was named to the Academic All-GLVC team.

BEFORE McK: Batted .320 with a .449 on-base percentage and 16 runs batted in as a senior at Herrin High School…hit .402 with four home runs as a junior for the Tigers…earned All-Conference honors as a junior and senior…collected All-South accolades as a senior…was a two-year Southern Illinois All-Star selection.

PERSONAL: Is the son of James Starkweather, and Amy and Scott Shapkoff.
