Antoine Manning

Antoine Manning joined the McKendree University football coaching staff prior to the 2013 season. Manning will serve as the Bearcats’ secondary coach and also handle duties as the program’s recruiting coordinator.

Manning, a native of Miami, Fla., came to McKendree from Rockford College, where he spent one season as the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator. Manning also served as the Regents’ special teams coordinator and assistant recruiting coordinator on the staff of head coach Vic Wallace. While a member of the staff at Rockford, Manning coached a trio of All-Conference selections in the Northern Athletics Conference.

Before his stint at Rockford, Manning was the secondary coach at Ohio Northern University during the 2011 season. Manning helped the Polar Bears to a ranking of No. 12 national in the d3football.com poll. Prior to that, Manning spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Lincoln University in Missouri. Manning served in multiple roles during his stay in Jefferson City, including interim defensive coordinator, recruiting coordinator, special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach. He was also the director of the Blue Tigers’ summer football camp. At Lincoln, Manning coached a two-time d2football.com first-team All-American defensive back in O’Hara Fluellen. In addition, Manning helped lead the Blue Tigers to the top ranking in total defense and turnovers caused in the Great Lakes Football Conference during the 2009 campaign.

In 2008, Manning was the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach at Midland Lutheran College (now Midland University) in Nebraska. Under his guidance, Midland ranked in the NAIA top 10 in pass defense, pass defense efficiency and punt returns, and also cracked the top 20 in scoring defense, total defense, forced fumbles and interceptions. Manning also has had coaching stops at Eureka College (2007) and Cornell College (2006).

Manning served as a graduate assistant at South Dakota State University for two seasons. As a wide receivers coach for the Jackrabbits, Manning coached Josh Davis, an All-Great West Football Conference honoree who still holds the SDSU record for receptions in a career with 225. Manning first gained collegiate coaching experience as a football intern at Kentucky Wesleyan College in 2004.

As a player, Manning spent two seasons as a member of the Lambuth University football squad before transferring to Western Illinois University to complete his career. Manning was a two-time letter winner at Lambuth as a wide receiver and helped the Eagles to an NAIA quarterfinal berth in 1999.

Manning earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 2004. He went on to receive his master’s degree in sports pedagogy with an emphasis in athletic administration from South Dakota State in 2008.
