Ben Burns has joined the McKendree University football coaching staff and will guide the Bearcats’ tight ends. Burns arrived in Lebanon in the summer of 2016.
Burns came to McKendree after a year-long experience on the staff at Ohio Dominican University. He first assisted the Panthers in the spring of 2015 as an intern. There, Burns helped organize daily practices and game equipment for individuals, group and team sessions. During the 2015 season, Burns served as an offensive quality control coach at ODU. In that role, he helped prepare scouting reports and recruiting databases while serving as the team’s video coordinator. He assisted the Ohio Dominican coaches at the quarterback, running back and wide receiver positions as well as special teams.
Along with his coaching experience at Ohio Dominican, Burns has served as a youth football camp counselor and instructor around Ohio.
Burns majored in physical education and graduated from The Ohio State University in December 2015. He also earned his ODE teaching license, specializing in multi-age (K-12) physical education.
